I did something stupid I think but I love my chickens. I thought my chicken was eggbound A neighbor showed me a video of an 18g needle to the right & below the vent for ascites. Every symptom matched. Well I did it and the first time I went a bit too far the liquid was blood tinged so I freaked out & pulled it out. I did again and clear liquid did come out but I accidentally pulled the needle when she moved. 18g is a good size needle. It's been almost 2hrs and it's still dripping! She seems fine. Belly is smaller but still feels like a water balloon. I have roosting in isolation thinking it would stop. It hasn't. Slow drip drip drip. Should I just leave her there until it stops? I don't want her outside & get an infection but clearly she does have ascitis. A vet charged $850 over a year ago for this mouth breathing & gave abt & 02. It never fully resolved. The full belly has been there for awhile but she recently started isolating and waddling like a duck. To be clear she is not eggbound or she would be dead, it's been weeks. She was walking better and foraging right after but still not like the others so I put her inside til the dripping stops. Poo was already there from this morning
