Hi there! We are new to BYC! We have found lots of helpful advice on here for chickens and ducks alike. Our 4 hens are almost a year old and about to go into their year round coop. We got them right before the harsh northern Maine winter (before they started laying) and felt it would be wise to build them a temporary indoor coop in our garage. They've done fantastic but are about to be outdoors.
Since then, we have acquired 2 ducklings. Still aren't sure of the sex, but are loving our little "flocks". I know you have a duck versus chicken section on here, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on introducing the two very different fowls to each other.... They will have plenty of space including an add on for nesting to provide extra room. We''ll end up with enough room inside the coop for about 10-12 chickens plus a fenced run and small pool for the ducks. ANY suggestions would be welcome! We look forwards to posting pictures of our little not so farm "farm! Thanks in advance!

Glad you joined us!

Here is an article on keeping different poultry types together that may help:

But I'd suggest you also ask in the Ducks section how others went about it:

Enjoy the site!

Welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you are really enjoying your flock! But I would do as the others have suggested and post this question about mixing in ducks in our Ducks section. Lots of duck experts there.

Enjoy your wonderful flock and welcome to ours!
