This is likely a silly question but:

I am going to be auditioning my 24 week old Dark Cornishes (collectively called Stew) for the role of Virgil- the single DC roo that I will keep for breeding. The rest of the Stews head off to freezer camp shortly.

I will definitely be considering body shape and size as well as temperament. But I just noticed that one of my DC roos has green eyes and the rest have yellow/brown. Does eye color sync up with any other traits? Does eye color matter? What color eyes can chickens have anyway?

Wow- well, none of my chickens have "pearl" eyes. Most are yellowish brown.

To clarify, I don't really care about breed standards as I'm not showing. This bird will be the basis of my meat breeding program so only those standards that are relevant to good meat production matter to me.

I was just wondering if eye color was tied to any other trait and if eye color even matters (other than in the show ring).
