I want to fertilize my pasture this week. Should I make sure my chickens stay locked up in their coop until the fertilizer disappears in a few days. I just wonder if they would eat it. The girls will be so disappointed if they cant get out.

I'd keep them in lockdown til the fertilizer is totally absorbed into the soil. Chickens will eat anything; why poison them, why take that risk? Chickens have short memories and will forgive you for not letting them out. Give them some treats or a half head of cabbage to pick at and eat. They'll love you for it and it'll keep them busy while locked up.
