bobcats are active at night. there aren't many seen around here because of that. but the new owners to my old chicks caught him in the act. cleaned out the whole flock over time. it makes me sick!!!(also have the bobcat loaders here too) i love my new babies. and they know my voice and come running whenever i get close. i'm very protective over them! so i guard them like a hawk.... and from hawks! we have 2 big dogs one is a pyrenees, and the other a newfoundland. the pyrenees was raised and bred to protect livestock however.... my newfie, Abbie, she is way too curious. she sits by the fence all day and watches in amazement! but upon letting her smell one of the chicks through the fence... you know... butt to nose, she nipped at their tail feathers. so in good conscience Abbie is a no-no! once they get older and are able to give her a run for her money, i will have to introduce them again. in all honesty i don't think she would mean to hurt them but she is sooo big! i just think she likes to watch at this point cuz she knows that momma will blister her nose if she tried anything. these are the problems of chicken lovers and animal lovers. we want our families to get along and greive over the thought of a boogie man or creature hurting them!
