Chickens and Hog Feed ????

I was told that chickens can eat hog feed and I was just wondering if u can, I was also told that it helps the eggs as well, let me know thank you

I don't think that's a good idea. Try sticking with chicken feed to make sure your flock's nutritional needs are met.

You can feed them hog feed. Biggest difference is the amount of Calcium. Chicken feed has more than hog.

the reason some people feed hog& pig feed is that swine feed is a superior feeds for them ....... the stuff they call laying pellets in no way can compare to a good pig starter !!! Yes oyster shell is needed free choice . Shannon

It's really a guess on our part because we don't know what kind of pig feed you have or what the protein & fat is in it or the ingredients in it .......

Do not feed medicate hog feed or pig starter. Regular hog feed is fine with additional Ca.

Could you please expand on your thoughts that pig starter feeds are better for chickens then layer feeds?
