Chickens and Peas?

I'm considering getting chickens but already have Peafowl. Can they run together? (after the chicks are old enough obviously). Have no experience at all with chickens but was thinking the eggs would be a plus for both our family and the dogs. My peas have a huge house with a heated roost, heated water bucket, and plenty of space for all of them (only currently have 4). Would it be Ok to divide that up and use half for chicken quarters? They are currently bedded on straw and make their own nests out of it. Thanks for any information before I take the plunge and purchase chicks.
