Chickens and snow

Dark Dozens, I'm also in Berkshire county, new chicken owner, and have Buff Orps. Love them, one is a little bratty!! Love your coop, did you build it, or get it around here?

I've found that my ladies don't like snow if their feet sink- if it's packed or shoveled, or if I throw down straw, they are all over it. I had one white roo fly out and land in a deep drift of snow- it was up past his legs and he just sort of stuck there, making sad chicken noises. I had to rescue him!

that is really neat.!! however, my chickens (hens or rooster) doesn't like the snow.
