Chickens and tomatoes

I see chickens love tomatoes.... how the whole plant? Can they eat this too??

I think that the leaves and stems are toxic to humans also, aren't they?

My chicks have been eating them with no problem, the leaves that is.

My chickens love tomatoes and all the tomato leaves- they have never gotten sick and are as healthy as can be - no problems.

Same here...no I'll effects seen from my flock having eaten the leaves.

I would be very careful allowing them to continue just because you have not yet seen any ill effects from them eating tomato leaves and plant parts and perhaps do some online research regarding the tomato plant and the toxins involved and the issues that can occur with your chickens as a result.

I give mine tomatoes in moderation, the leaves and stems I believe are toxic.... Found it on this site......

Says it is known to cause problems in animals and also Major toxicity: Ingestions of these plants, especially in large amounts, are expected to cause serious effects to major body organs such as the liver, heart or kidneys.
