chickens are allowed in cobb county ga

I just saw on th news this morning where you can now have chickens with less then 2acres.

Did they pass the ordinance changes they were considering a few weeks ago? If so, there is a non-refundable $1,000 fee. Unacceptable in my opinion. :\

I just checked on the Cobb County Backyard Chickens Alliance page and it looks like the variance fee has been dropped to $150.

I realize this is an older thread, but my SIL just moved and she wants chickens, but she moved from Cobb back into Cobb! You couldn't pay me to live in that nasty, controlling snotty county. Sorry, lived there when I first married my husband and it's such worse now than it was then. It's not the only one in GA, though.

And this part: (a) Written consent or opposition of adjacent property owners really frosts my onions. The day I give my neighbors that much power over my life is the day you put me in the ground. If it's legal, then darn it, make it legal, not dependent on the whims of some stupid human next door who could change his mind at any time if he gets a bee in his bonnet. You pay a huge fee and you still have to cowtow to the neighbors?

If my SIL comes to me for hens, I will not give/sell them to her, not on the terms they'll be going to live under and possibly her having to get rid of them (if they leave, they cannot come back for biosecurity reasons, and I hate to think what would happen to them if she rehomed them)
