I have 10 hens that were chicks last April. Its been very cold lately, in the single digits ,and I am getting 10 eggs a day. This has never happened before. Usually 8 or 9 eggs a day.
I'm not complaining but is there a reason they lay more in the coldest weather?

I really think it is because the days are getting longer- and that just happens to be colder temps. My first chickens all laid on one day in the coldest day of February- 26 eggs. The only time I got complete, full production! Go figure!
