New to the forum, about two weeks ago I purchased 7 babies lost my first one ( a naked neck silkie) a week after. The next day a second silkie baby of mine got sick... I came across this forum and was able to diagnose and treat her because of the info found on this site! Excited to be a new member and thanks for all the great info... Although I've been an Aviculturist at Seaworld for the last two years (penguins) I'm completely new to the chicken game! I look forward to learning how to give my pet chickens the best care possible.
and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the chick you lost, glad everyone else is OK, good luck with the flock! After penguins, chickens should be easy!
The next day our second silkie chick "in the pic" started showing the same symptoms. We immediatley assumed she had coccidia and started a Corid treatment every 4 hours. She seemed to get a bit better but developed a different set of symptoms that resembled more of a respiratory infection. So thanks to BYC we found some great help and promptly changed over to a Tylan 50 regiment of .25 CC every 8 hours orally. Its Day 3 and she seems to be doing much better! Cross your fingers, she should be out of the woods in a couple more days!
