Chickens are so much fun!

Ok, so I just moved my pullets/cockerels to their new chicken tractor (made by hubby and oh so adorable)! I stayed outside for hours just watching and petting! They are so fun to watch! I loved watching their first experience w/grass, worms, and well the whole enclosed yard of theirs. Who knew chickens could be so relaxing to watch. I got into this for a source of eggs and wasn't too excited about all the work they'd require but I have to say I am greatly surprised! They have required some work but it has been so fun! It doesn't feel like work at all. As a matter of fact, today is not so nice out there and if I didn't have a nasty head cold, I'd be out there right now!

My kids call it "chicken TV". The group dynamic, treat stealing, politics, sex, it's all there. Watching my roo woo the gals is hilarious. He'll seriously move the earth to give them treats.

I was surprised at how quickly I got attached to them (we've had them less than 2 weeks), know them individually, and how long I can just sit and watch them! Especially if one sits and falls asleep on me, it's like a sleeping baby that I can't put down. Everything they do is so cute.

So true! I love their different personalities, and all their drama. I never really thought I liked birds of any kind, but chickens are just irresistable!

I am sooooooooooooooooooo glad that BYC is here, too, so that I can connect to others of like mind. Mostly when I tell friends cool stories about my chickens, my friends just think I am so weird.... I guess maybe you have to know chickens to appreciate them???

I agree!!! I could watch me chickens for hours and never get tired of it! Plus I'd learn alot, too.
