Chickens are very sick, Please help! ( Up Date! )

FWIW, I have seen this puffy eye symptom in some of mine and I suspect that it might be related to Marek's, not a bacteria or virus. Your best bet is to have a vet look at it microscopically and check for bacteria.

thanks for the help. I just finished calling the poultry lab in GA, and they are going to see if they can do a full respiratory test, as well as testing for mareks. I hate that my chickens are always sick, but when your neighbor has a ton that are over-run with disease, there isn't much you can do!

I read somewhere on here that fungal infections could often be confused for mycoplasma infections. Try treating them for fungal infections. I had one that was showing the slight swelling mostly on her pea comb and inside her upper beak. She wasn't eating either judging from her droppings which is how I identified something was wrong. I isolated her and tried treating for cocci with Sulmet (just in case it was something else) and giving her some VetRx. I didn't see much improvement and she still wouldn't eat or drink. I supported her with vitamins and a little bit of tube feeding. Then I read about fungal infections. Her crop was empty but a bit gassy. I tried oil of oregano(powerful antifungal) mixed with water and tube fed some of it to her for three days. Swelling started going down and she started showing a slight interest in food again. I've read Oxine(unactivated) mixed at the disinfectant rate and misted over the birds at night for a few times a week will clear up fungal infections in the respiratory system if they breath it in. Oxine(unactivated) in the drinking water(15 drops per gal) will also cure fungal infections in birds (in the digestive system I'm thinking).

Well, I took my two worst hens to the lab. And he thought they fine, lol. He said that they might have worms, and to put them on some vitamins just in case they were fighting something off. Didn't even think there was anything wrong with their faces 0.0 I guess even chickens get wrinkles as they age!
Now, my roosters got into a fight. One thing after another... I had to keep one in for a while. It was really weird, he is the dominate rooster, and had gotten into tussles with the other two before. But I saw them fighting, and then he disappeared! I went outside to look for him, and one of the other roosters flew from under the deck. I found the dominate rooster with a bloody comb, protecting a cache of eggs ( that I didn't even know existed!) He was protecting them from the other rooster, and took a beating for it! talk about laying down your life for others, he wasn't even fighting, just covering the eggs.

Love my rooster. Well, his comb was in bad shape, about half of the skin on it had gotten ripped off. So he got royal treatment for the day, and the other two roosters have been put into detention!
But yeah, it's been a week, lol. Thankfully, the lab tests were free!
