Hi!
I’m new to chicken keeping, so I don’t really know how to deal with this: our chickens started laying about 2 weeks ago, but this morning, I saw them feverishly slurping down an egg that had probably been layed on the ground (yesterday I found a ground egg too... is that bad?). This is the first time I’ve seen them doing this. What can I do to stop it?
Thanks!
Here’s some pictures of the crime scene and the culprits.

first you should isolate the hen because other chickens will learn from her. Then you should wait for her to lay and when she does take the egg out as quickly as possible she will probable stop eating eggs after a week or more

It's fine.
It's not ideal for them to think they can break eggs anytime, but collecting the eggs as soon as possible should limit that.
I would not isolate. This is a first offense. It's unlikely they'll start an egg eating habit from that one time.
Leaving fake eggs in the nest can serve a dual purpose; helping them lay in the correct place, and stopping them from eating the eggs.

Alright! Thanks!
