Chickens bitting electric twine.

I have a twine type rope around the outside of my coop to keep predator critters out. It carries 6000 v. I am getting ready to let my chickens into the fenced area around the coop. Practice before free range. I am concerned one of the peeps may bite the twine which means they will pecking 6000 V . I am concerned this may do some serious damage to the chicken or maybe even kill them. Any ideas or thoughts on this my fellow chicken lovers.

My electric netting carries more volts than that, but it is a pulsing current for safety and the amps are really low. Occasionally my chickens make contact with it with their combs or wattles and they really jump back. It does not kill them or kill anything else. I test it see if it is working by touching it.

I don't know what your twine is or how you have it set up. If it is a commercial set and is set up properly, it is no big risk. If it is something you did yourself, it could kill you.

Thanks Ridgerunner, that gives me some things to think about and investigate. How do you like your electric netting ? Do you move around or is it in a permanent location ? Who did you purchase it from ? Have been considering it. Thnaks !! (^u^)

I got mine from Premier. I was having problems with foxes but the real problem was dogs. People like to abandon them in this area. I got the electric netting before Christmas and have not had a loss since except to a snake that got in the brooder. Niothing to do with this netting.

I set it up semi-permanent. I have to take it down and mow to keep the weeds and grass from shorting it out, but it comes off my gate to the permament coop/run. I run it different ways to get fresh stuff in there but some areas are always inside it.
