I recently had a chicken coop on my property moved a couple of 100 feet from one location to another. I kept the chickens in the coop for a couple of days to get them acclimated. When I let them out to free range, they went down to where the coop was formerly located, and when darkness fell they stayed there and did not come back to where the coop was moved to. I had to physically pick them up and bring them back up to the new coop location. What can I do to get the chickens to recognize and get familiar with the new coop location so they will automatically and instinctually come home to roost when it gets dark. Thank you.

I thought I read somewhere that unless you move the coop far away, the hens will do that. I think they said you could move it 25-30 feet and they would still recognize their coop and go in. I have no concrete experience. We have only had stationary coops.

They'll figure it out after you "help " them a few times. They learn. Don't worry and
