My wife and I have three rhode island reds in our backyard. For the first two months they've been great and have been laying eggs daily. Now they've almost stopped and they care more about eating actual pellets than free ranging. AND they won't stop chasing me or my wife when we go outside. Am I doing something wrong?

They chase you? Are they pecking you when they catch up to you? It is unusual for a chicken to prefer being inside the coop to free ranging. Do they stay in the coop most of the time? If you're not getting ANY eggs, and they're staying in the coop, then they could be broody, but then they probably wouldn't come out and chase you......Unless you have some kind of treat that they want to eat.......

I need more info....so do you guys run away from them? Do they run after you and become agressive--flapping and pecking?

My chickens will chase me if their food bowl is empty, but it's just because they know I am the food bringer :p They don't attack me when they catch up to me, unless you count ten chickens trying to fly up on your shoulder at once as an attack...

Another thing, they are laying less eggs (used to get 2-3 a day). Only seeing 1 per day, sometimes none. They won't sleep in the coop and I've tried putting them in there for consecutive days to teach them. But nothing has worked yet

On the aggressive part, they're not pecking me but I feel like they've gotten too comfortable with being right on topof me. I guess I keep waiting for the, to peck at me

Then they're not being aggressive, they're just thinking you're the food dispensing flock oddity and they want to be with you. A lot of people find that endearing.

If they're bothering you, though, build an enclosed run onto your coop and keep them there.
