Recently my chicken's combs have started turning red, specifically my GLWs, probably due to that they're the oldest. So far they are approx 16 weeks old.

Here is an image of a GLW:

The combs may not be extremely red, but their a lot redder then a week or two ago.

Another thing is that they've recently changed they're moods. They are a lot calmer now, and are willing to eat out of my hand.

Someone else said they heard egg song like noises coming from the coop, but I haven't seen any eggs yet (or any that I know of).

Is she ready to lay yet?

I am a first time chicken owner. I have a rock barred that is at least 6 mos old. Her comb is deep red but no eggs yet. No squatting or song either. Is there anything I can do to encourage her to produce an egg?
