I'm new with chickens and don't know if I'm posting the right place or not. I recently noticed a couple of my chickens with a lump on the front of them, which I determined to be their crops. I can feel the feed in them. I have never noticed this before, so wondered if this is normal and I've just missed it, or what. One is my very favorite hen, Sweet Pea, and I hold her a lot. She also seems to be very skinny, but acts like she feels fine.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, thats her crop. It will go down by morning. She just had a good day eating. She will be fine. Mine have huge lumps, some going out to the side after a good day of foraging.

They will stuff their crops before bedtime, but it should go down by morning. Most likely you have nothing to worry about. If you are concerned, keep an eye on them. Check that it has gone down in the morning. Ocassionaly sniff their mouths for any sour smell. Chickens can get sour crop or an impacted crop.

Sour crop is a fungal infection.
Impacted crop is a blockage in the crop that can becaused by eatting too much of the wrong things.

Miss Prissy has expert advice on how to handle those 2 problems.
