Chickens destroying nesting boxes?

The silkies sleep in the nests but they've never destroyed it before... it's never been a problem... guess I should start putting more effort into stopping that

Problem is my rooster won't let them roost even if I try to get them to... he wants them behind him

I do... he's just very stubborn and goes back to the nesting box everytime... I'm gonna try doing it more often though... maybe he'll give up

It will take a week or two of doing it every night. Cant pick & choose every so often. Thats not a habit

Yes, it must be done every night, well after dark.
Cover the nests an hour before roost time, uncover after dark.
