Chickens didn't come out of the rain?????

We had our first real rain storm since putting the girls in their coop. It is half covered, but the girls were huddled in the uncovered corner shivering because it was thundering/lightening close by... They looked scared instead of enjoying the bath.

I ended up getting soaked while trying to get them to the dry side of the coop. The first thought that come to mind... "Chickens have enough sense to get their heads out of the rain.." but not my girls...

I guess they will figue it out... shower vs drenching!

OUR CHICKINS LOVE THE RAIN BUT THE GOATS RUN IN TO THER LITTE HOUSE & OUR TURKYS JUST LOVE IT & OUR DOG IS SO FUNNY THE FIRS DROP HES IN HIS DOG HOUSE .LOL.

My girls also run out into the rain, You see them go nuts in the grass. They find all kind of goodies coming out of the ground in the rain!

i think mine love it because of all the heat, this summer when it was in the 100's for a month, they would BEG me to turn the sprinklers in, and once on, EVERY bird is under it.we JUST got our REAL rain a few days ago, i now know exactly what a nekkid chicken looks like, i couldnt believe they let themselves get THAT wet.haha

I am so glad to read this. I thought my chickens were just a little strange, playing in the rain. Glad to hear they are just like all the other chickens!

My goats also huddle in their hut - the chickens will stay with them if it is heavy rain, but when it slows worms and bugs better run because they looove to be out in it.
At forst I thought it was strange but them thought about all the worms and then it now seems normal .
