Chickens didn't poop all night!!

Crops can really only be checked first thing in the morning as the crop is usually full of something all day long. The only time it should be completely empty is first thing in the morning. Did you find this full crop this morning? Was it soft and squishy or hard?

It was full and hard. As I massaged it it softened up.

I just took her outside (had her in a cage) and she pooped out a bunch of pumpkin seeds! Crop still full but hopefully if I keep massaging it will clear her out????

However, she seems to be having issues walking and holding her head still. It slowly bobs forward and backwards....?

Sounds like possibly she is suffering from the over consumption of all those pumpkin seeds and it could be too toxic for her system. You could try an Epsom Salt drench on her. Epsom salt acts as a detox and a laxative. If a bird has consumed something poisonous, has an impacted crop or even a yeast infection, Epsom Salt will gently help move things along and clean out the system.

So I suggest you separate her from the flock and put her in a cage. Mix up a batch of this stuff for her drinking water... 1 teaspoon Epsom to 1 cup of water. (use a bit of warm water to melt the salt a bit.) Only give this to her for one day. (24 hours) She should start pooping up a storm soon after drinking this. Withhold all food for 24 hours.

It is worth giving this a try. It won't make things worse and could possibly save her life.

Thanks for asking! I kept her in a crate all night but she kept spilling the water! Her crop wasn't completely empty, but felt so much better! Maybe I was just feeling the gravel she eats! LOL She's walking okay, most notably if you're looking, her head is still not right. But she'd look normal to a non-chicken person! She's in with the other girls now and they aren't picking on her at all. She must seem normal to them!

So glad that she is on the mend! Keep a close eye on her and check her crop every evening and morning for a few days to help you monitor the input and output of food going thru her. I hope she makes a complete recovery!

Thanks I appreciate it. She tried to jump on the roost tonight and couldn't make it. I put her in a crate for the night. If I put her on the roost I didn't want her to fall off!! I appreciate your help!
