Chickens dont follow the plan

I have 2 man made dust bathing areas and my little ones need to dust bathe in my favorite dwarf Japanese maple. Oh well. It's a good thing they're cute.

They never want what we give them!

Recently mine have taken to digging a dust bathing hole about 2' from their actual dust bath, and it's also right in front of the run entry gate. I know they're hoping I'll step in the hole, twist my ankle, and then they'll eat me.

Mine don't want to use the nice dust bath I made for them either. Instead, they try to undermine the foundation of the coop and dig themselves under it
