I love this idea, do you have any more pics? Thank you for sharing!![]()
You're welcome, I haven't put up more pics just yet.
I must say, I do, too. Reusing things is something I love to do. I made an incubator out of a dorm fridge, complete with double paned viewing window in the door.
I would be concerned about ventilation, though, myself, from using one for a coop. Especially when you have to be so careful about where you drill holes so you don't puncture a refrigerant line! I'd be really worried about leftover contaminants from that and what it might do to the birds. They are so very sensitive to airborne contaminants, from ammonia to molds to silica particles and more. So, how did you avoid that?
So, yes, lots of pics, and we'd love a short DIY post about it, too!
I did that too. An incubator with a window. Everything went clucky soon after and haven't used it.
A thread would be a good idea, something separate because it attracts attention. Recycling is illegal in most western countries, where I am is no exception. Search " arrested for recycling " it's fun. lol. But my point is there are people opposed to it , you might not get as over-run with FBI agents as Balmore Alvarado (49) and Anthony Sanchez (56) did, but who knows, lol.
Just drill and cut the door as you please if you are not sure, fridges have no pipes in the door.
leftover contaminants are OK if they're pizza scraps. Otherwise things left outdoors with the door open let out whatever they have in them. I have never had any problems like that. Just be careful if you use a heatlamp for chicks. It will need a thermostat.
