hi, i'm new to the world of chickens and we love them but our bantum hen has been broody we got fertilised eggs and the other 5 hens have started to eat them and push the bantum off egg sitting we tried to seperate the bantum but she was not happy why do the chickens eat the eggs and how is the best way to stop this there is more than 1 hen eating the eggs what would anyone reccommend its our first time trying to hatch chicks before the bantum was broody they were all happy out any ideas would be appreciated:)

Hello! Well, it really doesn't matter if she doesn't like it, move the bantam away from the other birds ASAP. she will be mad for about an hour or so, than settle down to sit on her eggs.

Allowing other hens access to a broody hen gives rise to a myriad of problems. It is best to move the broody or make arrangements so that the other hens can not access her.
