chickens eating plantains.

Does anyone know if it is ok for my chickens to eat plantains? I received a bunch from bountiful baskets and I don't eat plantains. Just wondering if it's ok to feed them to my chickens. I would appreciate your input if you have any ideas.

Plantains are just a type of banana aren't they? Or at least really closely related to them, we just call them cooking bananas. Bananas are on the BYC chicken treat chart, without peel, so I would think that plantains in moderation would be fine also.
