Chickens eating styrofoam insulation

I built a really nice waterier from a five gallon bucket and a water dispenser jug, and I used a Styrofoam swimming noodle around the top edge to hold the bottle upright. I hung it outside the first nice day with fresh water and ASV for birds. I came home went down to the run and found the birds had eaten almost all the Styrofoam noodle from the waterier.

I was so concerned I could hardly sleep

, but after reading all these great posts, I feel much better about this. But, I guarantee I have conducted a full audit of my coop and run and removed anything that can, could, would be consumed, chewed on or eaten by my birds.

So for now, I am in wait for the RED Styrofoam to PASS...

This happened to me too. When my chickens went to roost at night the can reach the ceiling, where there was exposed Styrofoam insulation. They would peck at it and eat it. I covered it with plywood and lowered the roosts a little bit. I suggest you do the same.
