We finally finished the coop we've been building and just moved the chickens into it. I put wood shavings down and they are eating them! Will they stop after a while? Or do I need to switch bedding? All I have here as an alternative right now is hay. Will be gone all day tomorrow as well, so I can;t get anything else. If hay isn't good and them eating the wood shavings isn't good I'll have to put them back into their little hutch until I can change the bedding on sunday or monday.

Thanks in advance!

Put some paper towels or shredded paper over the shavings for a day or two to remind them to eat their food, not the shavings. Are you sure they're eating it and not just playing with it? Mine pick it up and then spit it out, like they're practicing to eat bugs or something.
