Those pictures look very similar to our chickens’ feet in the winter. I wouldn’t be too concerned, especially if there’s no snow or ice on the ground.

Thats Actually a great idea! I can't knit very well, but I do have a couple kinda thick saddle back protector things. That might provide a little warmth. One of my Dominiques especially, she looks extra miserable and like a half plucked chicken.. I feel so bad for her.. Thanks.Ok. Make sure their coop isn’t drafty, and if you knit, sweaters can be good for molting hens. I don’t think the feet themselves are the problem.

Massachusetts. And .. yes... more than that. She's looking like a half plucked chicken. All of her back and butt and belly are no feathers. Just chicken skin . Basically just her wings, head and neck. I've decided to put a thick saddle protector pad on her back. Per another members idea of knitting a sweater. I don't knit really so I think that will help a little.Missing this many feathers?

Any pin feathers growing in?Massachusetts. And .. yes... more than that. She's looking like a half plucked chicken. All of her back and butt and belly are no feathers. Just chicken skin . On the Dominique she does have a few pin feathers but her belly is just skin right now. I have been a bit concerned about that. But maybe she's just slower coming in because she's so uncomfortable right now. I'll keep an eye on it. I did see her preening some of her pin feathers today and it looked like quite a lot of large dried white dandruff looking material dropping off. Not sue if that's normal.
