I agree. This is a picture from the first winter we had our coop. The plastic under the coop completely covered the HW cloth. I have never taken that off. Soon I will place it with clear dollar store shower curtains. I like the amount of gap left open. It will allow for plenty of ventilation. Even when we had large snow storms, we got very little snow in the run.

I used 20 guage clear marine vinyl to wrap my run. It’s a little sturdier than the contractors plastic, plus I like that it’s clear. I’m hoping to reuse it for many years!

My mom said my runs look like a hobo palace because of all my tarps lmao. I don't care because my chickens and ducks have a large covered, enclosed place to come out in. Next year I will be upgrading the tarp for corrugated roofing, but as for now winter came very early here so hobo it is!

That clear plastic sheeting is nice! Mine is the more opaque stuff, and I'll use it until it dies, but then the totally clear looks better to me.

Does anyone else chickens refuse to go outside in the snow?

I found a picture from last fall when I put up the clear dollar store shower curtains. You can also see that under the coop the plastic is opaque. That is the original plastic. At that point it had been up for a year. The cheap very see through plastic survived the entire winter. The way they are wrapped around the wood and held tight with screws and large washers, probably helped.

Monday we had six to eight inches of snow, and the chickens were horrified! Today, Thursday, after declining to go out for three days, some but not all of the flock decided that going out was maybe okay. A couple of the hens went to the barn, and the youngsters walked around outside of the coop, but in areas with little or no snow cover.
In other words, snow is EVIL, and needs to go away soonest.
