is it not funny that dated on the cartons mean jack crap. them eggs in the store are 4=5=6=7=8 months old. if the eggs are not sold by the date they go back through the cycle and put in a different egg carton.

I believe you but I'll need better answers to convince her. Would wiping them off with those antisepic wipes do it?
lol. my ex told me she would never eat any chickens i raise or the eggs. it was just gross and she buys her chicken and eggs from the store. i organic raise my birds with free range. then one day she says get rid of the chcikens or i am leaving you. notice were it says ex..

She wants them clean as in no germs or salmonella on the outside of the egg.
keep your coop and nesting boxes clean and you will have clean eggs. That coating that you can't see on them called bloom is there to prevent germs. If you wash it too much, you are doing more harm than good. Most of my eggs get a simple brush off and get put in the fridge. My family hasn't gotten sick yet.

Put the roosts above the laying boxes, this will help them from roosting and pooping in the nesting boxes. Put good material in the nesting boxes, if you do these two things there will be very little if any poop ever get on an egg. If she will take the time to learn about the egg laying process she would realize the chicken puts a protective fluid on the egg as it's laid. When that protective bloom is washed off the germs can then get into the eggs. The old and wise will tell you to only wash the egg right before you use it...

probably ,i would only do it ,if u like yr eggs to taste like antiseptic.
eggs have a bloom to protect the contents ,the shell is porous so washing removes it.
just wipe off the egg with a damp rag ,if that not enough for her ,remind her water is good enough to help keep her clean .

So far y'all have not helped. Telling her it will be fine will not cut it. She says that She will not put something in the refrigerator that has bacteria all over the outside of it. She understands the bloom and its protection of the inside of the egg but is concerned about what is on the outside of the bloom.

does she wash/disinfect every thing bought home from shops- before putting in fridge- things that been handled heaps of times by ppl before u get them -far more chance to get E-coli or whatever from those sources than from the chickens in yr own yard where u control their environment. just saying
