Bee & All ...

I'm going to be attaching my shade cloth to a cattle panel. (My shade cloth is an old banner from work that we printed on. It's now re-purposed and used over part of the "craigs list dog kennel" part of my set-up.) Makes a great place for shade AND they run in there if there's a hawk overhead...

I'm getting ready for winter and before now, it was just stretched straight across and held down to the top pipes of the kennel with zip ties. I just cut it off and was going to reattach it on a curved piece.

So...the question...(Since I haven't worked with a cattle panel before)

Do you think I could use zip ties to attach the cattle panel to the kennel top pipes or would I need something more substantial?

This banner/shade cloth is about 4 ft wide and about 16 ft. long. Also wondering if I could use zip ties on the long edge of the shade cloth to attach it to the cattle panel...

Any thoughts?

Yep and yep! I used zip ties exclusively to construct a whole sheep shelter of cattle panels. They make different sizes and strength of zip ties but it doesn't even take the heavy duty ones to do the job. That year we had the highest winds ever recorded where I lived and the shelter didn't budge...took me about an hour to put the thing up. Tarping was fastened with zip ties as well and the flapping secured with a cargo net.

okay...I have been working my way through this thread but I haven't had time to get to the end yet...642 pages?!!!

anyway...I have a question that an old timer might be able to help with but it's already been asked much better than I can with good pictures by somebody here:

was hoping maybe one of you guys could weigh in?

Don't quite know what to tell you on that one...never saw anything like that.

Bee,

You'll like this: I did a house over for a very La-Di-Da lady. Came time to fence her pool off, and I used hog panels, as she had short dogs, Corgis. We put wooden posts every 8 feet with finials, and everyone said what a great looking fence once it was painted. I got calls for yet more of this good looking fence. I finally told everyone to go to TSC. WHERE?

Did you tell the lady you used hog panels around her pool? I bet she doesn't mention that fact to others.....

Do you have a pic? I'd love to see that fence, it sounds lovely!

Yup, after she tried not to pay me for 18 months work, I told her trust officers that they had bought HOG PANELS for the little darling's fence that everyone admired. That put the cat amongst the pigeons! The fence is still up though!
