Ok may we have the recipe? Can I request to have in my PM box..
Since I am so new with technology, I know how to go to my messages..
Looking for a thread has not been easy.. Well at least not for me.. Some
days I can not check email,BYC... By that time I have hundreds of threads
to go threw.. WhOoooohhh!! It is a lot... I need a personal asstetance..
LOL. I used to be able to find this thread by searching 10-20 years but then they put page nubmers in and now I cant find it that way anylonger, however if you go to your profile and scroll down to all the activity threads you have been on will be there nicely layed out (I just used layed in a sentence) and with the number of new posts as well. Very convienient.
As For Bruces' recipe I'll let him publish it. He has it worked out to be exactly 18.5% protein and my chickens are doing great on it and my eggs look more consistant and richer colored.
I dont want to steal his thunder! He should be around in a day or so.

I agree, am taking her next Friday. I usually do the 4 year rabies and distemper. I never do heart worm.
I found the kill this morning. The crows alerted me. Right next to the driveway behind the swing a young deer but not a baby . My camera/phone is having trouble downloading I will post when It comes accross. The Guts cleaned out- neck and leg broken. Dirt scratched up all around it. DOW cannot remove it till next week. The Sheriff was at the school when I took the kids so he came over and pulled it up on the road for me. The neighbor agrees a mountain lion...only two things that could break the leg and neck like that and the bears should already be up for the winter. So my option is to load it in my economy Suzuki and take it to a dumpster myself. And wouldnt you know it DH is out of town at a Taekwondo tournament. Ive got the chickens in and they are mad about it but its 10 degrees and there is a serious predator out and about so tuff cookies chickies. The carcass was literally 25 feet from the front porch but hidden. My neighbors were over two or three times yesterday and walked right past it and never saw it. One of my neighbors is about 110 pounds, feisty but it send shivers down my spine that she walked right by it. Ive called everyone I knowin the neighborhood. Dont know what else I can do. On a nicer note here is a picture of Emma. All our dogs are named for Jane Austin Characters. lol.

SO CUTE!!!

What is JOB?  I looked for poison bars.  I found D-con brand that had a box of what I call poison nuggets.

All they have around here is Tom Cat, so I bought the bars and put some up and out of the way of the flock. I know I have mice I see them all the time at night on the game camera cleaning up any spilled feed.
Tom Cat has the same poison in it as Just One Bite. And works great! I've used both, they both work well.

Thanks to all the compliments on the pup. As promised I finally have pics of the carcass. The manager at the gas station let me put it in her dumpster. Its handled now. Dow could not come out any sooner than late tonight or early next week so they recommended that I remove it. This is so close to home. I have half a mind to turn in the neighbor that feeds the deer that lead the predators to our doorstep! The picture shows where the Sheriff dragged it to the road, I guess DOW is wary of removing it from the kill sight. I gues the kids will be stuck inside for another couple weeks. Even Beep has been in since yesterday. She went out to pee and came back in, shes a smart cat!

With big predators like that coming close to the house, you need Anatolians! A pair of them.
I like the way you think, however I cannot afford them or Pyrenees which is my favorite breed. We used to have 2 Pyrs and 1 Bernese and a Russian Wolf Hound but with the kids they are just too big and hairy. Little Emma needs to be a great dog and lead Darcy and Willaughby and make them a team. So far I'm impressed she is not fearful of the vacuum, she has pooped outside every time and only piddled a couple times way early this morning. I gave her a dog toy and she is staying away from the shoes and seems to understand simple things. She already defers to Darcy and I think will top dog Willaughby by the end of the weekend. Now that I got rid of my deer carcass I need to grab a shower a snack and head to the Holloween parties at school.
Seems kind of surreal.
The chickens are in tight it was 25 degrees this morning in the coop but they want out real bad. Not today I'm afraid.
For those of you that pray I wouldnt mind you calling down a hedge of protection for my family, animals and neighborhood.
Best wishes,
Lisa

Oh, geez! Don't get me started on GMOs...I'm with you and it's of my biggest pet-peeves ever! Monsanto should be called monSATAN.

But, I digress...

Because I hate GMOs so much and don't want to eat anything associated with it (when possible), I feed only organic layer and scratch to the chickens...for organic eggs and meat. And according to my feed bag, the corn is organic. I'm just frustrated with them not eating it as it's half of an expensive bag of scratch!

Well, I just hope their pickiness wears off....little spoiled brats.

For what I paid for it, i might have to gather up the corn and eat it myself! (yes...very much kidding...)

I agree, esp w/"monSATAN" part

We don't have big cats in town here, thank heavens, but we do have Eagles and Hawks. This is what protects my flock. It is 40 lb test monofilament line that is strung from a 10 foot post in the center of the orchard . Lines radiate out from the center to 1 foot intervals on the 8 foot tall wood fence. We've had no problems, as one hawk must have boomeranged off it, and they all stay away.

These are some 100% English Buff Orpington chicks out for the first time at 3 and 4 weeks with their sire introducing himself!
