Very pretty. We don't have big cats in town here, thank heavens, but we do have Eagles and Hawks. This is what protects my flock. It is 40 lb test monofilament line that is strung from a 10 foot post in the center of the orchard . Lines radiate out from the center to 1 foot intervals on the 8 foot tall wood fence. We've had no problems, as one hawk must have boomeranged off it, and they all stay away.
These are some 100% English Buff Orpington chicks out for the first time at 3 and 4 weeks with their sire introducing himself!

Loving the opringtons. Wish I'd kept them and culled the Australorps. New to keeping both breeds and while I agonized over whether to keep the lovely, glossy black beauties or the wonderfully, glistening golden beauties, the Australorps kinda took care of the decision for me. The Orps were given a new home where the australorp brutes wouldn't pick on them. Now, I wish I made the opposite decision. If I ever get this house in TX sold and moved to NC, I may disperse the entire flock and start over with Orps.
Thanks Bee!Beautiful birds!!!! Lovely green range, as well...no barren, hard packed ground to be seen.
Miss Lydia, There is a very old article from 20 years or so ago in a Florida newspaper about a true event involving a Dachsund.
