It is a matter of opinion on looks and vigor. Showgirls make just as good foo-foo loofas as regualr silkies and are just as cold hardy and in-fact see better. So that reminded me to google 'showgirl chickens'........O-M-G...HIDEOUS!!!! I'm going to have nightmares...and I might actually need that 'help' leahsmom suggested....
42 gut busters....you guys are on a roll.Haha, I can't afford that kind of help!! Instead I just buy more animals....much cheaper.(that was a joke....BIG joke)
Bee- those videos..the muppets AND the ghost chickens in the sky...made my night, soooooo funny!!! I've been wondering what 'showgirl' chickens look like, now I know thanks to Jim Henson!!
Really great idea! And I don't remember who suggested it, or on which one of Bee's threads, but I found a stall nameplate today with one of my former horse's name on it... Im seriously thinking about repainting it to say "What Would Bee Do?" and hanging it on my coop door as a reminder to let chickens "bee" chickens!
Hops are extremely hardy, and long lived. I planted mine 8 feet apart. Those photos are of the vines before they really got established. I hope I get some root sprouts this spring to plant on the other run end. One vine will cover AT LEAST a 10 x10 foot area. I've seen them climb to 20 feet tall in England. The Golden Hops is an ornamental, but does produce hops if you want to make beer too. It will NOT come true from seed. No reason that beer hops wouldn't work either.I just looked at your pictures, what a nice setup! Looks like the hops did well, how close together did you plant them?
