I have two ISA Browns, roughly a year old, who have been previously healthy. Today I noticed both of them gaping consistently; is this a respiratory issue? As well as gaping, they keep shaking their heads, as if trying to get something off. Is this symptoms for a disease or am I overreacting? Gapeworm? It's spring here (and the lawn was being mowed at the time), could it be an allergy to grass and pollen, a bit like hay fever?
I have also noticed them sitting down a lot, and often on their sides. They lower themselves onto their side and sometimes stick their wing out. This may be unrelated, but either way I am curious to know if this is normal behaviour.
Thanks for your help.
