Chickens Getting Really Noisy When Greedy

Chickens favorite past time is scratching and pecking. Every week I clean their coop and dump the compressed straw I use in their pen. I scatter scratch grains over the straw in a wide area and they can scratch and peck all day if they want. 20180815_103516.jpg But they also like to preen and relax on the roost. I have two in their 500 square foot pen.
I also let them out to free range an hour before sunset daily weather permitting. They go back to their coop around sunset when I lockup for the night. They are 2 1/2 years old and know the schedule. They start hanging out near the gate about 15 to 20 minutes early. GC

Could this be the answer for the OP. Start a routine of letting them out maybe only once a day and at the same time only. If like yours, the chickens get used to the same routine they won't get loud, knowing they will, at that certain time, get out into the other yard.
