Hello Everyone,
I have the animals, but my knowledge of computers and the manner of speak is weak. I am writing this thread because I was directed to do so, I guess. I had originally come because I had a couple of Mini Nubian goats that screeched so much, I thought the police would come to see whom I was murdering. My neighbors called animal control, thinking I was abusing them. Eventually, I sold them off as meat. The milk was great, but the screeching sent me over the edge. I could not bring myself to selling them as dairy goats, and subjecting the new owners to such a disturbing life. They had everything they could possibly want, but I could not stand with them all day, I had work to do. They were just spoiled by previous owners. I am looking for calmer goats. Chickens, pigs, rabbits, and my goose are doing fine. I am looking for a forum that is honest in the best way to care for animals. I wish I had seen the posts about goats sooner.

Hi and welcome to BYC - sorry to hear of your goat debacle.

You'll find forums on non-feathered animals here - Other Pets & Livestock

As for the feathered variety - here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

G’Day from down under Massfarmer :frow Welcome!

Wow, I did not know that goats could be so needy .. I do, however, have some very needy chickens :p

As always, Ken has covered all the best starting points wonderfully well so I will just add that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

:welcome

I hope things have calmed down for you now that the goats have found a new home. Best of luck with all your other animals.

Thanks for joining us!
