chickens gone--no signs of trauma

Hey we live in downtown Atlanta,Ga and we see hawks often, especially when our chickens are enjoying the yard. They circle and sit on tree branches trying to figure out how to grab the girls in such a tight space as our backyard.

I am sorry you lost your girls. It sounds as though they jumped the fence or got grabbed by a hawk or two.

I would suggest clipping 1 wing of each additional bird you get just in case they did jump the fence. There are videos online to show you how to do this without harming the bird. One wing being short keeps them out of balance when they flap their wings. Also you may plant some bushes or some type of shelter where they can hide if a winged predator comes.

As for 2 legged ones that aren't so nice, a padlock or No Trespassing sign may help.

I wish you success finding some pals for your one chicken!
