Chickens have worms

Safeguard is dosed by weight. "Pea Size" is just guessing really and a lot of times under dosing.
Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight. Give once, then repeat in 10 days to treat Roundworms only. To treat other types of worms including roundworms, but not tapeworms, give orally once a day for 5 days.

There's really no way to know what type of worm it was without seeing photos of it.
I showed her the picture of what someone gave me and she said it looked like that . Ok so I don’t need to repeat the dewormer in 10 days right?

It'd probably be a good idea to show your mom pictures of different worms so she can confirm what she noticed. I'm not sure where you're located but where I am, the heat is welcoming flies and oftentimes where there's flies and poop, you'll find larvae (maggots). I may be mistaken but in the right setting, you can see maggots in 24 hours or less. Tape worms and round worms are some other worms that can be visible to the naked eye. I wish you the best. You've received replies above from some of the most trusted folks here 💜
Thank you she said she knows for a fact that it’s not a maggot, and I live in South Florida and it does get hot and I do get flies in the coop. From what she described it’s not a tape worm . Thank you guys all for helping me.

I forgot to update you guys it it’s fine, after that one time I haven’t seen any worms so I’m guessing the dewormer worked. They look and act the same so that’s good I guess. Thanks for the help.

Just wanted to offer my 2 cents, you said you completed treatment the day before she saw the worm, after worming you will see dead worms in the poop from the day first dose and up to 3-5 days after the last dose. The bulk of them pass in the first few day's of treatment and then you usually only see 1 or 2 in the last few days. Personally I think they're fine this soon after treatment.
