Chickens I Want!

I want two female Silkies. It's so hard to find a place that will sell just two, especially females. I can't have males though where I live and I would hate to buy the required minimum of (5) straight runs that most places ask for and then find out some are male and have to part with them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

barred rocks are great. Very curious and intelligent. Also vacuum chickens. Good choices!

Oh Dear, My beautiful BLR Wyandotte Roo started to crow for the first time this morning. I have three of them about 11 weeks old and knew they were going to need a new home soon, but I've been trying to hang on as long as possible. They are the sweetest boys ever! Now I'm frantically trying to find a safe home where they will not be dinner.
If you know anyone near Iowa that would be willing to take them, please let me know.

I love the trickery with the eggs. Made me LOL so hard my DH wanted to know what was going on. He may not notice the chicks but he will notice when they are bigger HAHA!!!!!
I have 4 1 month old chicks and my big ones will not leave them alone. I have to sit outside and monitor them because the big ones peck at the little ones too. I think when they hatch, your broody hens will keep any others from pecking the new ones. Keep fingers crossed!

Picasso Chicks are beautiful! almost sounds like a new breed. We are allowed to have 30 hens here, but i only have 12. our yard is partially fenced, but i have fenced in an area just for the chickens. that way the kids dont have to worry about stepping in chicken bombs,
but it doesnt seem to matter because they love the chickens and end up spending more time in that part of the yard! My neighbors have not said anything to me at this point. The only thing I would like them to say is "Can I have some eggs?" or "I love your chickens" LOL

I want marans for the lovely dark eggs as well. I have 2 Ameraucana's for green/blue eggs, but currently of the 12 hens I have, nobody is old enough yet to lay! I'm anticipating that day

I would love a buff laced polish and a frizzle of any color!

Hi, I love chickens and I use to have a lot of different breeds but sadly I had to move.

I sold/give on most all of them but I did get to keep a few and I'm happy that I do have them I had 5 chickens but 2 past away on me.
my rooster die a few days ago :`(
He was pretty old though.
Sorry you lost some of your chickens! My DH says get over it they're just chickens but I'm sure everyone else will agree, they're NOT "just chickens"! They're pets and friends and it's always sad to lose a friend!

Do you have any friends or neighbors that have or want some silkies too? You could always chip in together for the minimum. Maybe you could find a breeder that will sell them sexed so you don't have to worry about getting rid of any roosters? Instead of posting an ad you could look through what's already listed and see if you can find what your looking for?
