Greetings,
I am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself.
I live in Bakersfield, CA and decided to get a small flock of laying hens for the backyard this year. I am new to chicken keeping.
Right now we have 6 chicks ranging from 31 to 20 days old. 2 lavenders, 2 black bantam frizzles, and 2 barred rocks.
Some of my other hobbies are gardening with native plants, growing and edible garden, birdwatching, hiking, and photography. I'm also an amateur aquarist.
I am a wildlife biologist. My wife and I have 2 young boys. We have 2 black labs, an aquarium with tropical fish. We also have a kangaroo rat that we rescued as a "pinkie". Her name is Rascal.
I'm looking forward to learning from all of you backyard chicken keepers!
