Hello all! My name is Darlene.

I am a country-girl at heart and own all kinds of animals currently…. but we are planning a move from our home in Minnesota to Florida by the Fall and I am nervous and want to educate myself about what is required to keep my chickens in Florida. I may just start all over, of course, but I want to be successful with my coup there in that climate etc.
I am hoping to find some Florida friends to help me.

Hi Darlene, say hi over on the FL state thread and I'm sure you can get lots of help there: Florida One thing you'll want to take into consideration when building a coop is how hot it gets here...an open air coop may be best.

Glad to meet you, Darlene! Best wishes with your upcoming move. I hope you enjoy Florida! There are a number of members here from Florida. You might want to specify which part of Florida you will be moving to, since I think it makes a difference in terms of storms and perhaps other things as well.

Do you have chickens now, or have you had chickens before?
