Hi all.

We live in Garland, which only fairly recently opened itself up for backyard chickens. We brought our girls with us from White Rock Lake.

In both locations we've build our own coop and run.

We're in year 5 with our girls and it has been a wonderful journey, so far.

Nice to meet y'all!

Hi :welcome Willem & Ashley

Glad you could join us here! What breed/s do you keep?
It's great to hear you are able to keep your birds now you have moved.

Good luck for the future and be sure to ask any questions. Everyone here to help.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

We started with three little ones, a Barred Rock and two Ameraucanas, and soon thereafter added two Cream legbars (a silver one and a gold one). After a couple of months we took the neglected chickens from our neighbors in, which added another Ameraucana, a Buff Orpington, and a black mix of some sort.

By the time we moved we had lost a Cream Legbar and an Ameraucana to heart failure, and the Buff Orpington to an illness cause by broodiness that she just didn't want to snap out of. In the last year we lost the other Cream Legbar and the black mix to heart failure, too.

So now we are down to 3: the original Barred Rock, who has always been the boss, an original Ameraucana and one Ameraucana from the neighbor. They're all getting older, but are still laying eggs like champs.

Welcome to BYC, we are so glad you joined us. :yesss:
