Chickens in Gates NY

Hello,
I am brand new to BYC and new to chickens in general. I've been doing tons of research and if all goes to plan starting a coop build in the spring to bring home a few little ones. The only thing stopping me is trying to figure out if I am actually allowed. I've gone over the town code which isn't exactly clear, at least to me. So, I am wondering if there are any others in the Gates NY area or if anyone can help me out a little more before I contact the town.

Why don't you make a trip down to the Town office and talk directly to the clerk and have them point you in the right direction?
BTW, this is the correct order to do things in. Find out FIRST if you can have the chickens. Too many folks go ahead and get their chickens only to find out later that they cannot have them due to a zoning ordinance... long after they've fallen in love with their flock and have their hearts broken when they have to get rid of them.

In addition to @DobieLover's suggestion, you might post on your state thread to see if anyone there is located near by...maybe they can give you some pointers/info.

Have you had a luck finding the information whether if you’re able to have chickens in Town of Gates? i recently moved here and would love to own two or three hens. let me know
