Just came back from a trip to New Orleans and enjoyed the following story in the local paper, the Times Picayune.

Then when searching for the story online, I found another about a workshop in the area in 2009 promoting and teaching about keeping backyard chickens!

This was put on by the New Orleans Food and Farm Network. I am not familiar with them, but they have a nice website and seem to have the mission of promoting locally and home grown food.

Maybe their approach and experience would be helpful to others trying to get cities to permit backyard poultry.
