I have been wanting to ask this question for a while, so here goes. I see great pictures of chickens in peoples houses and I have to know, don't they make a mess in your house? Pooping is what I am asking about!

I would love to have my hens sitting with me watching TV but I'm afraid I would have a mess to clean up. What do you do??

I have heard of the chicken diapers but that leads to another question...
how do you keep the poo off the feathers? with chicken wipes? or how do you change the diaper?

I let my ducks in the house, after a swim. I find they poop heaps while in the water...and while preening, and then not so much for a while. I also have wood floors which are easier to clean than carpet. Obviously chickens are different, but Im sure you will find a way.

One of my ducks has hs own little soft dogs bed - I put a clean towel down on it and wash the towel after he goes outside again. He knows he has to stay on his bed, but wanders straight back outside when he has had enough inside time.

ok i have a few ??'s one how do you train a duck or chicken to be in a house to begin with and where can i find some of them chicken dipers

I usually keep a rooster in the house, I have airline and steel crates for my dogs who think of the crates as their dens or caves so one of the crates often will be used for the roo to sleep in. I'm cleaning out a fifty-five gallon aquarium tomorrow that I want to use for my silkie hen for awhile. She's a bit overwhelmed w/so many half grown BO pullets and she won't roost so until the BO pullets can come out of the heated growing out coop, Esmerelda will come in, too. She lets me know when she's going crazy from so many chicks or pullets...she runs in circles and voices her opinion:rolleyes: Having had parakeets and cockatiels, I just clean up the poop as it comes or leave a blanket down and then take it outside and shake it out, then throw the blanket into the wash. I don't have carpet in the house so its easy to sweep and mop.

Keep in mind that you can get diseases from chickens if you keep them in the house. There is a lot of info about this on line.
If you have allergies I would be careful with this.
Inform yourself before you keep chickens in your house .
