Looks like winter has blown over to the east coast...cold and WINDY today...so windy I really didn't want to let my chickens out to play. But I felt bad for them stuck in their run all day, so out they came. I have never laughed so hard...the wind was blowing, the chickens were running around and Nellie had her wings out...just a bit, but it was enough for the wind to get under and pick her up off the ground! She blew forward about three feet...not a lot, but she kind of went up / forward / and down, not rough at all, kind of like Mary Poppins coming in for a landing!! Oh I wish I could have caught it on camera!! I spent the whole afternoon in the sunroom wrapping presents, but half the time looking out the window to make sure a chicken didn't sail on by!! Great fun!!

That would have been funny to see.

Thankfully, the girls wised up after Nellie's adventure and they did spend a good bit of time in a sheltered area of the yard. But go back to their coop before bedtime? No way!

Today we are having our first snowfall of the year, which is also the first snowfall of the girls' life...awwww! Knowing it was coming, I made the girls spend the day in the run which is still weather-proofed from Hurricane Sandy. I'm sure they spent the day grumbling about me

I got an egg from each of them today, but they probably won't give me any tomorrow...take that, Mama Grinch!
