There's a huge thread on here from 2008, and I read it all. I went with the tea tree and mineral oil

:thumbsup

It's the smother factor that's most important anyways...

I use Sevin in my coops, just not in the nest boxes...

Thanks for reminding me, is time for worming and Ivermectin... :/

I swear, if I quit my job I could work on the mini farm all day, every day. If I could only charge $150 for a dozen eggs...

They were scratching a lot. One quick look at their legs you could see it on a few. After rounding them up, the two oldest were really bad. I'm ashamed of myself, I should have never let that happen. I guess the feathered legs compound the problem, but my silkies and BCMs don't have it. I bet it came in with my original pair. Those were the two worst.
Chasing 13 d'uccle down in the middle of the day is not fun...
The inside of the coop was stripped and sprayed, aired out, then I put a dusting of DE under the bedding, put new bedding in, then dusted it and mixed it in. I have Sevin dust, but was afraid to use it in the coop

Don't beat yourself up over it. You have had quite a few pressing matters to take care of lately. **** happens.

Just tell me that you set up a video camera while you were chasing them down.... I would love to see that!

It was really good after I was covered in oil :gig
I was treating them as I caught them, then putting them in brooders. Broody mama was last, and I got her before the babies. She pitched a fit, and when I went to put the chicks in the brooder, she flew out the top and into the yard. 250 pound oily redneck chasing a fast bantam that flies well would have won me $10K

And then some... unless you don't mind being a "slum farmer" it is a lot of work and little things to keep up on and remember...

You and K amaze me with all your responsibilities, work and animal care...

The rest of my family really likes coke and meth. I just tried to find a less destructive addiction ;)

Speaking of destruction... was going through the older eggs we have yesterday to feed some out to the chooks... dropped 2 flats of eggs on my feet and all over the floor... flockin BIG mess... even the dog didn't want anything to do with it... :th
